Internet Data and Security

The internet is forever expanding nonstop. Twenty years ago it may have been possible to archive the entire internet into a simple 80 gig hard drive. Today you will need thousands and thousands of servers archive the entire internet and that number will continue to grow as long as we continue using the internet. The internet is a massive data storage device where just about anyone with a computer and a connection to the internet can upload or download all kinds of data.

From reading news articles of the current political hot topic or to streaming live video for a conference with people all around the world. There are many different kinds of services out there for anyone can use to upload and download the data that they are looking for. One of the many simple ways to upload files up onto the internet is though free web space services such as Geocities which is owned by Yahoo.

By choosing their free service, users can upload simple files such as JPEG files and TXT files. Of course if you want to have a lot more options available you can either pay for their premium service or go to another service which might give their users more benefits. One popular storage service is Rapid Share.

You can upload a couple hundred megabytes into their servers and have is accessible by you or anyone else from anywhere in the world with a computer and internet connection. However, privacy is always a big issue to many people. They may have to upload important files that hold vital information that can't be distributed with the rest of the world such as passwords and other private stuff. The most popular way that most people keep their many different passwords is in their e-mail accounts because it is easily accessible by them from nearly anywhere in the world.

Some of the most popular free e-mail providers are Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail. Millions of people use these services to communicate and hold information that they hold as important and/or precious to them. However the use of the internet is not failsafe.

It can be intruded by an outside source much like a person can go in and steal your mail that is in the mailbox. Though it is illegal, there are those without a conscious and commit these offenses without a sweat. However there are ways to protect your data from these offenders.

Though the major free e-mail providers do provide free data protection from data thieves there are a lot better alternatives out there. There are services out there that can offer of what you can call a vault for you to hold your important data that you do not want others to see. Much like a vault like in a bank, it is very difficult for anyone to penetrate through the defenses and steal important data as it is very difficult for a robber to open up a bank vault to steal the millions of dollars inside.
